Afghanistan–Pakistan Conflict Escalates Sharply

Tensions between Pakistan and Taliban-ruled Afghanistan have intensified following Islamabad’s declaration of an “open war” after a series of cross-border clashes. The situation marks one of the most serious escalations between the neighbouring countries in recent years.

Pakistan Declares ‘Open War’

Senior Pakistani officials stated that the country’s patience had “reached its limit” after repeated allegations that militant groups were operating from Afghan territory. Islamabad has accused the Taliban administration of failing to curb activities of anti-Pakistan outfits, particularly along the volatile border region.

Tehran has historically maintained diplomatic channels with both Islamabad and Kabul, positioning itself as a potential mediator in regional disputes.

The escalating conflict has drawn concern from the international community, with calls for immediate de-escalation and protection of civilians. Observers warn that prolonged hostilities could destabilise an already fragile region and impact broader geopolitical dynamics in South Asia.
