MHA Directs States, UTs to Tighten Security Around LPG Bottling Plants and Distribution Network

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued directions to all states and Union Territories to strengthen security around LPG bottling plants and the gas distribution network across the country. The move comes amid concerns over supply disruptions and reports of black marketing of LPG cylinders in some areas.

Security Measures Around LPG Infrastructure

According to official sources, state governments have been asked to increase surveillance and deploy additional security around LPG bottling plants, storage facilities, and transportation routes. Authorities have also been instructed to closely monitor distribution centres to ensure that supplies reach consumers without disruption.

The directive aims to safeguard critical energy infrastructure and maintain smooth delivery of LPG cylinders to households.

Crackdown on Black Marketing

The MHA has also instructed state authorities to take strict action against individuals or groups involved in the illegal hoarding and black marketing of LPG cylinders. Law enforcement agencies have been asked to conduct inspections and raids where necessary.

Officials said that such illegal activities not only disrupt supply chains but also create artificial shortages that affect consumers.

Coordination With Oil Marketing Companies

States and Union Territories have been advised to work closely with oil marketing companies to monitor supply levels and address logistical issues. Authorities will also track cylinder distribution to prevent diversion of LPG meant for domestic consumers.
